The Art of Visualisation
You’ve heard of it, it’s been widely talked about and you’ve possibly read about it. Then you’ve tried it and it’s either “worked” or not. We’re talking about the Law of Attraction.
What is it? The common belief behind it, makes it sound like a key to a bit of magic in our life. If you can imagine it and hold that image in your mind, you will manifest it in your life. You can bring whatever you want into your life by holding that image, believing that it will materialise and it will.
That’s basically the sum of it as most have come to understand it. But is that really all there is to it? Is it just a matter of “If I can see it in my mind and believe it, I will get it”?
Here you will find a split amongst people. There are those that believe wholeheartedly in the pure manifestation process and others who believe it is all fake. The bottom line is this: either way, the Law works in our lives, believe or not.
And, yes, there is a but.
It’s all Energy
Energy is all around us. In us. We are energy. Every cell, every molecule in our universe is energy. We have been told this for thousands of years and science has finally caught up to prove this fact.
Everything is in relation to energy, a certain frequency, a certain vibration. Things are held together as a result of attraction and kept apart because they repel, they are not of the same “stuff”.
Positive thoughts are positive energy. Negative thoughts are negative energy. The energy you put out is the energy you will get back. The seed you plant will only propagate the same as itself. You won’t get roses from planting thistles. You want get prosperity if you believe in poverty. There will be no abundance if you believe in lack.
We attract that which we plant in our mind and truly believe, believe to be true within our subconscious mind. It’s not enough to believe it in the conscious mind, it has to be planted in the subconscious. The opposites have to be supplanted, replaced and super-seeded with new ideas.
Like a gardener continually removes the weeds from their garden, so must you continually remove the thoughts of negativity and replace them with positivity. Optimism versus pessimism.
What has this to do with the law of attraction? Everything. How can you attract the good when your mind and belief are on it’s opposite? You can’t. Your thoughts have to be ones of want and of belief. It has to feel “right”.
So, if I hold my thoughts on what I want and believe I’ll get it, then I’ll manifest it in my life?
No. And this is why.
The two sides of the law
When you begin to change the way you think, you are changing not only your mindset but the physical part of your brain. Neurosurgeons have now shown us that we can replace old neural pathways with new ones.
Neural pathways are our beliefs, the way we think, the reason why we act the way we do – they are the software of who we are. When we replace the old pathways with the new ones, a change is inevitable. It’s just the way it is.
The most common way to replace a neural pathway with a new one is through repetition.
You change the way you think. You are energy. The energy you are now sending out to the universe about who you are has changed. Here comes in the second part, the outer part that you have no control over: the universe sends back the same energy, in the form of opportunity.
Let me put it in “real world terms”.
You decide that you want to start a business and want more information. You have set an intent in your mind and since your mind is a goal seeking mechanism, what you focus on is what it will aim for. The minute you do that you will begin to notice things related to what you want to do. They’ve always been there but because you were not focussed on it you didn’t see it.
You go for a coffee or tea. The people next to you are talking about business and you suddenly hear them – you are in the same frequency as they are, your mind is focussed and on that frequency, the same vibrational energy, and you hear their words. This could be the opportunity you’ve been seeking.
So you speak with them and the business breathes it’s first breath of fresh air on it’s route to manifestation.
THERE ARE NO COINCIDENCES. EVERYTHING IS AS IT’S MEANT TO BE.
One part you, one the universe.
One last CRUCIAL part.
Action! This is what you are not tools about when you are told about the Law of Attraction. It seems that all you need is imagination and belief and it will come to pass.
Without action nothing comes to pass. All your past actions may lead to you receiving something unexpected. The effort that you put in, in the first place. You then put out your intent and you get a return. It’s a law.
On the other hand, any new endeavour requires action, effort, persistence and faith on your part. It’s called Applied Faith – applied because of ACTION.
I hear people saying, “But what about those that won millions on lotteries?”, or “That person that walked into the car sales and won a car just like that”.
The lottery winner had to put out the intent with the numbers and had to buy the lottery ticket, otherwise they would never have got the money in the first place. The person that won the car followed their intuition or acted on a thought, and walked or drove to the car sales.
Action is the step between the mental part and the manifestation. We cannot skip that part. We have to act in faith that what we seek will come to us, all at the right time. You can’t just sit there and wish something to come into your life without actually doing something to show that you believe that it will.
Everything works in divine order. Everything is as it should be. Realise that anything is possible, but a dream stays as a dream if it’s not acted upon.
A sculpture from wood will never see the face of day, until the woodcarver chips away at the wood to reveal their mental picture.
Use the Law of Attraction. Just realise that effort on your part is required – mental, emotional and physical. It’s the reason we have the vessel we live in!
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8 King James Version (KJV)
Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.
