Hearing the call to act
Have you had a time when you’ve gone to bed but you can’t sleep because your mind is racing? It’s like all those thoughts have suddenly been dumped on you by the universe and you are now trying to figure them out.
If those thoughts are about past actions, something during your day or something in your past, these are issues that you need to address and deal with. But, there are times when you get an idea in your mind that just won’t budge – it stays there like a piece of spaghetti on the wall; it goes nowhere until you deal with it.
I had one of those the other night. The idea came into my head and it begs to evolve into a discussion between me and me. And I was losing!
The concept I was thinking about, whether we are or not a spiritual being experiencing a human existence (Pierre Teilhard du Jardin), kept me up writing until the daylight hours. It wasn’t the fact that I had stayed up to write that’s the point, it’s the fact that I was discussing this with myself.
The words that were coming when I got into the flow, where not just simple subconscious thoughts surfacing like a submarine coming up for fresh air. They were more than that.
At times like these, the universe calls and the words begin to appear.
Now, of course our ego would rather say that all the thoughts we get are our own, unless of course it is a decisive failure and most people would either point the finger at someone else or blame God or some other entity.
If these same people would step outside of their ego for a moment, they would wonder how they came upon the idea in the first place. But that is less likely to happen, because of the fear that thought alone creates.
For example, I’m seating in front of my Mac trying to figure out what to write. It suddenly hits me that I’m doing two things: one, is that I’m thinking about what to write and that this thought alone is what I’m writing about and what I should write about; the second, is that I’m blocking any creativity by the idea of what to write about, which implies that I don’t know what to write about, that causes a small level of stress on my nervous system and, consequently, blocks any ideas coming through.
So, I breathe and realise that all the words are already there – I simply need to allow them to flow through me. The universe calls out with the words I need to hear.
Inspiration re-ignites and the words flow.
It also means that I am no longer blocking anything that needs to come in, the feeling, the intuition, the words that flow from the universal infinite that I, unconsciously, translate from energy to words. And anything in the library of my subconscious that needs to come out.
Blocking it all out
Most of us, for most of our lives, never realise that we are blocking out any possibilities in life, because we subconsciously sabotage ourselves by not believing that we can. A false self image.
Other times, the ego plays it’s part and we shelter ourselves in it’s multicoloured blanket of comfort, believing that it serves us well, instead of realising that the ego itself is a form of a blockade, which if we dared go through we’d find that we could do more than before. Or even something completely different from before, that we enjoy more.
The calling cards are always there, but because we are not “listening” we don’t “hear”. We listen when we are willing to listen to our inner voice, our intuition. We realise opportunities only when we realise that opportunities are always there and around us in everything.
Wether it’s something we want to act on or not is another matter, but, first, we have to see the opportunity for what it is.
We live our life’s, travelling through it like a train passing a pasture – we never stop long enough to see the grass blades, the shades of green, to smell the grass and hear the wind blowing through it.
We daren’t make that change because we have a fear of change and of the unknown.
And the universe still calls.
Time to listen
Making the transition to listening to what you are being directed towards is a choice. Without that single decision and willingness to make it happen, it can’t.
Freedom of will and choice opens up new ways of seeing, hearing, feeling and understanding. If you try and force yourself or another to make that choice, it won’t work. The resistance is already there.
It would be like pushing down on the gas petal with the handbrake still on – the wheels are turning and burning, but there’s no movement.
The handbrake are your fears, your doubts, your insecurities, your prejudices, your……… put your choice of words there.
Most of us never make that choice. We listen to the words we have heard before, in our mind, which keep us in the same place as before, at best. We maintain old habits that don’t serve us, old beliefs, old ideals, never breaking out of that chain of events.
So, this is the universe calling. When the universe calls will you be willing to make that change by choice? Or are you content where you are?
You are a function of what the whole universe is doing in the same way that a wave is a function of what the whole ocean is doing.
My brain is only a receiver. In the Universe there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength and inspiration. I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core, but I know that it exists.
